FAQ

1)WHAT IS MY ROLE AS A PARENT WHEN I PLACE MY CHILD IN SMART METHOD KIDS CARE CENTRE??

When your child is in Smart Method Kids care centre, she / he will undergo extensive group experiences and fun play with other children. As a parent you supplement this by giving your child individual attention at home through play, role play, reading and love.? Bear in mind that children learn best by doing specific things, and they want to do the things that you do like helping with chores, washing, shopping and routines of everyday life learning experiences. (Don’t forget children learn by imitating adults) It would be helpful to talk to the teacher about what your child has learnt during the day. You can then reinforce the learning at home. The teacher would be pleased to give you suggestions. The care centre should be seen as a continuation of care for your child away from home. Get yourself involved wherever possible in the centre’s activities . In this manner, you can ensure that your child has a rewarding and memorable experience both at the SMK care centre and at home.

2) DOES SMART METHOD KIDS CARE CENTRE PREPARE MY CHILD FOR SCHOOL THE WAY OTHER KINDERGARTENS AND NURSERIES DO?

At Smart Method Kids, we provide age appropriate activities and curriculum for the development of your child. Both Kindergarten and nursery programmes are incorporated into the daily activities as part of their preparation for the child’s entry to primary school. We have trilingual programmes. Our curriculum is geared to the total development of the child holistically in general and to develop their individual talents in particular.

3)WHAT HAPPENS IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY?

We require specific instruction from you on how to contact in case of an emergency or if your child falls ill. Here in the centre, there are staffs who are trained to deal with emergencies. If a child does not require immediate medical attention, the centre will contact you to bring the child home. If urgent medical attention is needed, the child will be sent to the nearest doctor and parents will be informed simultaneously.?

4) IS THE ENVIRONMENT SAFE FOR MY CHILD?

The care centre is required to comply with the relevant ministry guidelines on safety and is subject to annual fire regulation review.

5) HOW DO TEACHERS DISCIPLINE MY CHILD?

Different Centre varies in the approach to discipline children. However children learn far more effectively from reward than punishment. The most effective way to teach a child is encouraging desirable behaviour and ignoring less desirable behaviour. Corporate punishment is not permitted in the centre. If you have a specific concern about the discipline of your child, talk to the teacher and principal about it. Disciplining of your child is most effective if you and your child’s teacher work hand in hand.
