  1. Will my child be given adequate and nutritious food?

Child care centres must follows the nutritional guidelines set by the Ministry of Health. This is to ensure that your child has a balanced diet and nutrition intake.

Your child will eat meals in a group. Watching other children feed themselves will encourage your child to do so!

  2. Are the staffs trained?

Yes, the extent of training they undergo will depend on their designations. We provide supplementary training to enhance the quality of care. To ensure that each child is adequately looked after, our centre complies with the staff-child ratios set by the social welfare department.

Our founder, Mrs. Poh, was a trained nurse, graduated from the United Kingdom and worked in Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Family Planning department (L.P.P.K.N.) for 2 decades until she chose for early retirement. Since then, she continues to upgrade herself (including selected staffs) on various child care development techniques (Montessori, Shichida, Multiple Intelligence, etc) by attending various courses locally and globally.

  3. How does Smart Method Kids help my child learn?

Young children learn through play, which enables them to rehearse adult roles, discover how things work, develop skills in problem solving and acquire interactive or social capabilities. Children under age of 6 are usually too young for formal lessons and homework. All children naturally love to learn and will do so instead of through force or pressure. Each child learns and grows at different rate and forced learning does more harm than good.

A good centre should have a variety of toys, puzzle, art and educational materials to foster exploration and discovery. These also permit children to develop an understanding of the world around them.

  4. Does Smart Method Kids prepare my child for primary school?

We provide 3 age appropriate activities. For older children, both kindergarten and nursery programmes are incorporated into their daily activities as part of their preparation into primary school. Done via 3 languages of English, Mandarin & Bahasa Malaysia, our programme is geared towards the total development of the child holistically.

  5. What happens in case of emergency?

During registration, we require specific information from you, including emergency contacts. The centre is also required to have, at any time, at least one staff who is trained in first-aid to deal with emergencies.

  6. Is the environment safe for my child?

All licensed centres are required to comply with relevant ministry guidelines on safety. The ministry’s officials make periodic checks to ensure the centre is safe for your child.

PLEASE ENSURE YOUR INTENDED CENTRE IS DULY REGISTERED EITHER IN MINISTRY OF WOMEN, FAMILY AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (JABATAN KEBAJIKAN MASYARAKAT).

  7. How do teachers discipline my child?

You should discuss each centre’s philosophy with the staff as not all centres have the same approach. Corporal punishment is not permitted in any care centre and most is proven that children learn far more effectively from reward than punishment.

If you have a specific concern about discipline of your child, talk to the teacher and principal about it. It takes both the teachers and parents to work hand-in-hand in child discipline.

  8. What is my role as a parent?

The most important question! Your child will undergo extensive group experience and play with other children in the school. As a parent, you complement and supplement this experience by giving your child individual attention at home through the same play and read experience. It will be helpful to talk to the teachers about what your child was taught during the day and you can reinforce the learning in the evening. Our teachers will be pleased to give you suggestions and comments.

It is important to note that the school should be seen as a continuation of care for your child away from home, and not the other way around.

Get yourself involved, whenever possible, despite your busy schedule, your child only have 1 childhood! In this manner, you can ensure that your child has a rewarding and memorable experience with us at the school and at home.
